My two cents - it's worth little more

Like its newer cousin which I unfortunately ordered at the same time - I found this book boring. Too many of the questions were really easy - and it wasn't because I'm too smart for the book. When you check the answers, quite a few of them indicate that 80%-100% of Mensans got the questions correct. On top of that nearly half the book is devoted to trivia and vocabulary. With these you either know the answer or you don't - there's no intelligence involved - only familiarity.

I assumed this book would entertain me for a day. I hoped it would entertain me for a weekend. Instead it bored me for a little over an hour as I took the quizzes. If you're looking for tests of logic, reasoning, and mathematics skills then this book will be of minimal interest to you.

PAUL BURNS is a professor of Entrepreneurship and Dean of the University of Bedfordshire Business School, UK. He also formerly served as Director of the 3i European Enterprise Research Centre, researching small firms across Europe. He has been a Visiting Fellow at Harvard Business School, USA, and a Visiting Professor at the Open University Business School, UK, where he developed the multi-media Small Business Programme which was screened on BBC2. He is Fellow and a former President of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). He is a chartered accountant, having worked for Arthur Andersen in London. Meditation by a Master

These are descriptions and explanations of meditation by the famous Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) gathered from his many talks in the Western world. Volume and page from the 8 volume Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda are cited for every selection. The editor has divided the book in half "Meditation according to Yoga" (practical aspects) and "Meditation according to Vedanta" (philosophical aspects).

In the foreward, Christopher Isherwood tells the reader not to be in a hurry to finish the book and take one extract at a time to ponder over. And the editor Swami Chetanananda cautions that this book is not a manual on meditation. A personal program requires the instructions of a qualified teacher who would teach according to the temperament and spiritual advancement of the disciple. These are powerful words, however, for a general audience. Swami Vivekananda was born to carry the Vedanta message to the Western world.

Our thoughts and emotions carry spiritual energy that has such tremendous healing power. This is, according to the author, an avenue of healing open to everyone and limited only by our own resistance. One can access this energy for one's own mind, emotions, and spirit as well as share it with others. Beginning with clarifying one's intentions and communicating with angels, Ms. Mora offers numerous suggestions for connecting with angels, such as the use of prayers - how to is important here - and crystals. Other chapters include cleansing the area around one's self by a technique called "smudging," a discussion about the types of spirits living near each person, and using techniques like salt baths to provide a clean, clear environment.

The following chapters then become very specific about angel breath rituals, the definition and use of the chakras in every human body, and the importance of the "third eye" in one's spiritual practice and health.

The remainder of the book tackles actual healing techniques for clearing away the ill effects of lack of forgiveness, living in an habitual victim mentality, fear, rejection, and so many other areas. Ms. Mora has taken the explanation of quantym physics as it relates to energy therapy to a level that anyone will be able to understand. But it is not just the understanding, it is the ability to do this work where this book excels. ANYONE can do this type of work. Reading this book with an open mind and an open heart is key. Once you read this book, it is up to you to put it into action. Do not be worried about what works or what doesn't work - it comes with time and practice. That being said, this is probably one of the best books available in the field of energy therapy and a must for anyone who is even remotely interested in learning more. It is up to each of us to take responsibility for our lives and our healing abilities - this book provides the means by which we may do so. Kudos to Eva-Maria Mora for sharing all of her gifts with the world - this couldn't come at a more appropriate and much needed time. I, personally, am most grateful for your generosity.

Next, Życiński calls into question the classical opposition between the teleological and the causal interpretation of evolutionary processes. He attempts to overcome that opposition by reliance on the concepts of supervenience and an evolutionary attractor. In this way, he proposes a new approach in which teleological anthropomorphisms as well as reductionist metaphors are avoided.

The author then presents a theology of nature in which particular attention is given to the immanence of God and to Divine kenosis. Finally, the book offers a theological anthropology, including chapters on the harmonization of paleontology and theological anthropology, the limits of sociobiology, and original sin in relation to scientific knowledge of the human person.

This superb book shows how faith and reason need not be set in opposition to one another.

Science, with its discovery of evolution, positively enriches theology. The study of nature improves our knowledge of God.

Archbishop Zycinski argues that both Christian anti-evolutionism and anti-Christian scientism are each regrettable fundamentalisms. The Archbishop rejects both extremes.

This book was just too wordy. The topic is very easy to understand and the facts are there for anyone who wants to search for the truth. This book could do it a lot simpler than it did. I wasn't impressed.

Great Tips

I’m a writer and I started this kind of career three years ago. However, I only focused on writing general articles. There’s a rising demand on “copywriting jobs” and I tend to fail them or give up doing them because I can’t really write a good one. I tried looking for ways, but the internet is so big, that it really gets me overwhelmed, I don’t know which one I should choose. So, I considered this book, took my time reading it and it worked wonders. I tried to apply for a copywriting job offer and I’m glad I made it! I was hired and I’m doing a great job (according to my manager). This book honed me to become one!

An essential read for the industrial peptide chemist

Dr. Benoiton tackles a difficult topic in detail. This book is indispensable if you're in the business of making peptides. It's a dry read, but if you can make it through this and understand it, you'll be a peptide wizard. My biggest criticism is that he chooses to avoid abbreviations.As anyone in the field would know, this makes it rather difficult to follow along, especially if you're not as familiar with the names as you are with the structures of the myriad of reagents and intermediates. His references are rather dated, but still applicable. His figures are simplistic and from an earlier time (those of us that started on typewriters know what I mean), but he still gets the message across. His approach is more mechanistic, which I find is lacking in the peptide chemistry world, where mechanisms are proposed to explain results, but results are rarely produced to prove mechanisms. If you want to learn how to do Fmoc-peptide synthesis, try Chan and White. If you're generating a 0.1% impurity that is giving you fits in purification, this may be your ticket to success.
